RETUMBO | Dormant Matter

RETUMBO comes from a subterranean pressure. 
Retained matter, something not yet fully released. It does not try to show an eruption.
It stays before that, at the point where matter seems to keep something underneath.

It was sculpted in wax and cast in silver, one of the few pieces in the collection made through this technique. It was born during a wax workshop in Spain, alongside two other forms I knew I needed to explore:
- The volcano and my connection to it,
- The strange innocence of mushrooms, 
- A more visceral form of origin.

From the beginning, I understood these pieces were more direct, even more literal than what I would usually allow into AMIRAN.
Still, they were necessary. They became a base for PACAYA to continue.

RETUMBO holds something of that beginning:
not the volcano as image, but the pressure before it.

Wear note: Due to its weight and sculptural volume, wear with intention. Avoid impact, direct pressure, or high-movement activities with the hands.
